It is with sorrow today we report the passing of Wally Schmaltz.
Wally was a member of DVFF for over 30 years and until the last three years had always attended our monthly meetings.
Wallace Schmaltz Posted: Wednesday, June 1, 2016 9:47 am Wallace ‘Wally’ Schmaltz of the Cobalt Ridge section of Levittown passed away Monday, May 30, 2016, at Manor Care Nursing Home, Yardley. He celebrated his 90th birthday on April 26th. Wally is survived by his son, Wade and his companion, Michiko; his dear granddaughter, Erica and her husband, Jeremy; two great grandchildren, Caleb and Logan; and many nieces and nephews. He also is survived by his best friend and wife, Shirley Craig Schmaltz; a dear sisterinlaw, Bonnie McKinnell; and dear friends, Bob and Joan Russell. He was born in West Pittston to the late Emma and Erwin Schmaltz. He was a graduate of West Pittston High School and attended Trenton Junior College. Wally worked as a motor winder for Lockwood Electric Motor Service, Trenton, and after his retirement, he worked for Kufen Electric in Warminster, until he was 81. He was a member of Oxford Valley Chapel, and until a few years ago was very active in the church’s Music Ministry. He sang in the choir, and enjoyed playing his trumpet. He was a great musician, and in his early years had his own German band. Wally loved fly fishing, and enjoyed his summers at his summer home in the mountains on the lake. He was a charter member of the Delaware Valley Fly Fishers Club. Relatives and friends are invited to Wally’s life celebration starting at 3 p.m. Friday, June 3, at Oxford Valley Chapel, 198 BristolOxford Valley Road, Levittown, PA 19056, followed by his memorial service at 4 p.m. A luncheon for family and friends will be held at the church after the service.
