“Fish Tales & Memories” Presented by Our Members Via Zoom December 10, 2020 at 7:30pm

December is traditionally our annual Holiday Dinner and Fundraiser. Due to Covid-19 we’ve had to adapt and change things up a bit. While we were able to meet for the last two months in person with limited capacity, out of an abundance of caution for our members and their families, as well as our guests we have decided to go back to online Zoom meetings for the time being. Members are asked to send in their most memorable fishing photos for this year along with a description to be compiled into a PowerPoint presentation to finish off the year 2020. So please join us for a night of “Fish Tails & Memories”. Here is the Zoom link for the meeting.

If you would like to participate in our annual fundraising event, which we hope you do, please check out this link for our various online raffles and auctions. You may also make a donation through this link if you so choose, any amount is appreciated. We thank you for your support.

November Monthly Meeting

Aaron Jasper presents “Steelhead Fishing”

November 12, 2020 at 7pm. Indoors at Churchville Nature Center, 501 Churchville Lane, Churchville, PA.

Aaron will tell us where and when to find steelhead on Great Lakes Tributaries, more specifically Lake Ontario. The presentation will cover water types by season, set ups (rigging), as well as strategies to use on trips to the tributaries this season. This presentation will explain away why a small amount of anglers enjoy most of the success when fishing for not just steelhead, but migratory fish in general.

Since this is an indoor meeting and with the current PA regulations in place our capacity will be 20 seats. Regrettably, we will have to keep this as a members only meeting at this time. Masks and Social Distancing will be required. Members are asked to register for the meeting by sending an email to Registration will be on a “first come; first served” basis.

Any overflow of members, members not wishing to attend in person, and guests are welcome to attend the meeting via a Zoom broadcast. Information for this broadcast will be provided through our next newsletter and our Facebook page. We are sorry for the inconvenience but this is the best we can do with PA Regulations for meetings the way they are at this time. Thank you for your understanding. If things change we will let everyone know as soon as we know.

October Monthly Meeting

Fred Dewees presents “Fishing For Snakeheads”

Join us on October 8, 2020 at our new location, the Churchville Nature Center (501 Churchville Lane, Churchville, PA), at 7PM for our first in person meeting since February. We will be hosting Fred Dewees as he presents “Fishing For Snakeheads”.

Fred is the utmost authority on catching snakeheads on the fly as he has caught over 200 snakeheads while fly fishing. He will teach you how and what to look for when targeting this misunderstood gamefish. He is featured on a Hook Shots episode where he leads the Hook Shots host into more fish on the fly versus the other two outings on the Potomac when using conventional fishing methods. He runs a Facebook page called “Fly Fishing for Snakeheads and Bowfin” and also has a YouTube channel with multiple videos on catching this misunderstanding gamefish.

We plan to have the presentation outdoors, weather permitting, so dress accordingly. In case of bad weather we will move the presentation indoors to the meeting room. There are outdoor benches for seating but it is suggested you bring your own camp chair if you have one. A flashlight wouldn’t be a bad idea as well to assist you when its time to leave the outdoor area. Please remember to wear your mask and bring your own refreshments. Due to the Covid-19 restrictions we will not be serving any at this meeting. Thank you for your understanding.

We’re Moving!

Delaware Valley Fly Fishers has moved its meeting location to the Churchville Nature Center at 501 Churchville Lane in Churchville, PA.

We’ve Moved

This new venue will allow us to provide our membership with a larger space to facilitate social distancing when necessary and give us the flexibility to have outdoor meetings during nice weather.

Our meeting night has also changed, we will now be gathering on the second Thursday of the month at 7PM starting with our October 8th. meeting.

Details for that meeting will be published in a separate post.
